| | Sue and Ray moved from Wellington to the Manawatu in the mid 1980s to follow their interests in thoroughbred horses and racing. They developed a small agistment property outside Palmerston North and over the years agisted horses, deer and cattle. Ray originated in the UK and settled in N.Z in the mid 1960s and as a qualified carpenter and builder had his own office partitioning business for many years and Sue was born and educated in Wellington and her interest are in art and design. When the opportunity to buy and the Roskilda homestead presented itself they decided to make the change and move to Palmerston North city. With Rays building skills and Sues flair for interior design Nikau Loft evolved out of the attic above the old cowshed. Both Ray and Sue enjoy the company of other people, and being in the hospitality business suits them well. Their other interests include golf, gardening, and horse racing. They have a friendly cat and dog plus a few chooks. Nikau Loft is near Palmerston North city centre and only a short drive to Massey University and the Pacific College of Education. All sporting venues, racetracks, Arena Manawatu complex and the Manawatu River are in close proximity. Staying at Nikau Loft is a restful and pleasant experience. Perfect for either, the business person, or those that just want to get away for a quiet weekend and perhaps take in dinner and a show. Your Hosts: Sue and Ray Skinner look forward to welcoming you to our special place. |
